Old Keepers Cottage - Test Valley Luxury self-catering accomodation for upto 6 people; Near Salisbry, New Forest, Test River
The cottage is situated in a private woodland, just outside of the medieval city of Salisbury. Famous for the Cathedral, one of Europe's tallest, Salisbury is still a market town and is full of character and history. There are many buildings over 500 years old, populated by a wide variety of restaurants, pubs and shops. Salisbury has lots to offer, including a variety of restaurants, delicatessens, a Antiques Centre, The Playhouse, the diverse Art Centre, in a 15th century church, and a wide range of shopping - from boutiques to high street. Just 4 miles from the cottage is a very large supermarket, and there are more in the city centre. 10 miles beyond Salisbury is the World Heritage site Stonehenge, set in the stunning Wiltshire landscape. Bournemouth, with more shopping and glorious beaches, is a 40 minute drive.

We are within the beautiful Test Valley, in west Hampshire. The River Test begins north of Winchester, flowing 40 miles through the valleys. It travels through Romsey (12 miles from us) - another classic market town with beautiful architecture throughout, a large Abbey, and a choice of boutique shops and good restaurants; also the Broadlands Estate, home to Lord Mountbatten. The river then becomes Southampton Estuary, meeting the Channel. The Test River and Valley plays a significant part in Richard Adams' novel 'Watership Down'.

Just 5 minutes away is the ancient New Forest, a stunning area of outstanding natural beauty, enchanted and wild. Ponies, cows donkeys and deer roam freely around this national park, and pigs too in the autumn. The mood of the Forest changes with the seasons, and is always atmospheric. There are miles and miles of wide open heathland and rolling valleys, covered with heather, ferns and gorse and many paths and streams. These open spaces are broken up by woodlands and forests, old and new. Complete with many character villages, farm shops and hundreds of pubs, there is a wide range of family activities, including mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, walking, swimming, country houses and amusement parks, water sports, sailing, adrenaline sports and more. Course Fishing is available within a mile from the cottage.
